Belize has two political parties, the United Democratic Party and the People’s United Party. There are approximately 320,000 people living in Belize and they are made up of the Mestizo, Mayan, Mennonite, Anglo-European, Creole, Asian, Garifuna, Middle Eastern and Hispanic nationalities with the Hispanics being the most prevalent. The history of the country of Belize predates most other cultures and nations starting with the Mayan civilization that developed in the lowlands of the Yucatan Peninsula close to three millennia ago. The country of Belize is located in the northern part of Central America and the country is shaped roughly like a triangle and about the size of the state of Massachusetts. For people who are not familiar with this part of the world, Belize is nestled between the borders of Quintana Roo – a Mexican state – two departments of Guatemala, namely Petén and Izabal, the Caribbean Sea.
