English is not the primary language in all countries, but if you are from an English speaking country, you are in luck. The primary and officially recognized language of Belize is English. However, the country is so diversified that you will hear many people speaking Spanish, Maya, Garifuna, and Creole. You will find that the people who and live and work in Belize will communicate with you in English although if a shop keep happens to turn around and speak in another language to their workers, do not be surprised.

Speaking of shop keeps, most commercial, retail, and industrial businesses in Belize are open Monday through Friday from 8am to noon and then from 1pm to 5pm. Whether or not the business is opened on Saturday depends on the individual business itself and these three types of businesses are closed on Sunday. If you need to use a bank in Belize, you will find that the standard hours are Monday through Thursday from 8am to 1pm and Friday from 8am to 4:3pm.
